I create and share my art with you to celebrate the things I love 💕 For me, those are painting, surfing and the beautiful colors of the Pacific coast. I hope you also take the opportunity to celebrate and share all that you love, and to feel the freedom of a timeless moment.
I first began oil painting at age 7 in a class in the school gymnasium. 15
years later I received my Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Notre
Dame, with a debut show at the Snite Museum of Art. Today I paint during beautiful outdoor excursions and also back in my home studio. For updates on my current features in art festivals and galleries, sign up for my monthly newsletter and follow me on Instagram follow here .
As a San Diego
native, I draw on my experiences diving and surfing in the waters of southern
California to infuse life into my pieces. I enjoy creating in plein aire along the coast, as well as recreating
scenes with vibrant color and movement in studio. There is a
meditative calmness that happens when I paint, and I’m always surprised by what
direction the art takes me and what comes to light at the end! In my sea
life series, I hope you may pause and recall your own experiences looking
through a dive mask or aquarium glass, reviving an appreciation for our aquatic
treasure. Perhaps you will also inspire others to protect and preserve the ocean's dramatic and delicate
beauty.
Resin
paintings are composed with multiple layers of dyed resin pours and acrylic
brush painting to echo the depth and movement of the ocean habitat. The resin
pouring process suspends the action of the waves as it gradually hardens into a
reflective water-like surface. I hope you always feel welcome to touch and move around
the artwork as you peer past the reflective initial surface of the ocean. I like to
paint images from the outdoor activities that I love to do like surfing,
hiking, and diving. I see so many visually extravagant places and creatures
that I want to recreate for others to enjoy.
